  • Wow, what an experience! I had been secretly researching boats on my own for a few months before I met Walt from Carpe Diem Yacht Sales. Researched online, went out on my friends' boats and attended both local boat shows in Annapolis with my wife. We thought we knew what we wanted and heard about Walt from reading great reviews online. I reached out via e-mail and he followed up with a phone call and we started the journey.   • We are the Capozzis and we live in Florida.  You would think that living in Florida we would be able to find our perfect boat.  But, after several months of searching and several trips though out the state, we came up empty.  We expanded our search area and found our perfect boat in Annapolis, Maryland.  This boat was listed by broker, Walt Frick, Carpe Diem Yacht Sales, Edgewater, Maryland.

    We called Walt and he was more than informative regarding the condition and quality of the boat.  We negotiated a purchase price, flew to Maryland two days later, did a sea trial, survey, and signed the preliminary contract.  Being a boat, there were a few minor issues that needed to be taken care of before closing and the 6 day trip back to Florida with our new boat.  Throughout this entire process, Walt was more than accommodating in assuring that all details were taken care of.  He stored and delivered boxes of boat supplies that I had sent from Florida. He smiled when I got impatient and was beyond helpful prepping us and the boat for our return to Florida.

    We did a final sea trial with Walt, and enjoyed a great Maryland crab dinner with him before our departure.

  • Buying a boat should be a fun experience, however, it can also become stressful when the boat of interest is "used" and also located out of the owners state. While perusing numerous websites in search of my dream boat, I came across Carpe Diem Yacht Sales. Listed within their inventory I found her...  Although used, the boat appeared to be in new condition and in her description, it was indicated as such. As I was excited to finally find what I was looking for, I immediately called their number. It was 7pm, but I wanted to leave a message. Instead, Walt answered the call. My focus was on the condition and maintenance of the boat as the pictures appeared to good to be true. He assured me that the boat was well maintained and showed "as new". I've heard that line in the past and was skeptical, however, he assured me that I wouldn't be disappointed(I've heard that one too). Walt took a number of my phone calls prior to my visit to Maryland and was always available to talk. He coordinated my visit with the marine surveyor and the actual owner of the boat. Needless to say, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised. The boat showed as advertised, The marine survey went well, and the sea trial sold me! Walt even saved me the expense of making a another trip to Maryland as he took a video tape of my boat being lifted on the transport truck and tucked away all of my belongings! Great experience with a great guy.

  • Walt, I just wanted to take a moment and let you know what a tremendous job you did for me in promoting my vessel. I've had my boat at another broker for 1 1/2 years and he showed my boat once and that was with someone that had his boat there in the marina. I worked with him and he told me in order for him to sell it, he needed to have it at his location. I agreed to that and brought it to them. He indicated he was advertising it in all the websites and he felt he could sell it quickly. Well that didn't work and he continually asked me to lower the pice in order to sell it. I finally decided to attempt selling it myself. I've had it on sale since June and had four interested buyers, but no stepped up to the plate.

    Walt contacted me and we met on my boat, he assured me he could sell my boat. I agreed to go with him; however I indicated to him I had an interested buyer I was working with. Walt came back down to my boat and took pictures of the entire boat. These were excellent pictures that showed every aspect of the boat. He even did a video of the boat that was also excelent. He only had my boat on the market for less than a weel before hefound a buyer that offered full price.

    I've never met someone as energetic as Walt. I would surely recommend him to anyone interested in selling their boat.

    So you’re looking for your first boat, your next boat, or making a size jump like we did from a 20 foot Stingray with no systems to a 32 foot Cruisers Yacht with twin inboard V-drives, heat, A/C, fresh water, head, galley and generator. You could buy your boat from any broker or individual. That’s what I planned to do because that’s how I bought my Stingray. After talking to 4 or 5 brokers, everyone wanted to sell me a boat or be my broker, but no one seemed quite right. After talking to Walt something just clicked in what he said and with his depth of knowledge. He still hadn’t won me over yet but at least I felt comfortable with him. Walt has the ability to assess you and your life style to help you pick the right boat. We started out looking at many types, styles and lengths of boats. Walt finally suggested we look at a Cruisers Yacht. When we did we fell in love with the styling and quality of construction. He quickly showed us 3 or 4 boats in our size and price and we put a deposit down on our 1st choice. We went to Norfolk Virginia to see the boat. Then we arranged a survey to make sure the boat was sound-like a home inspection. Walt had a list of surveyors that he said we could pick from or we could find one ourselves. We Googled surveyors and 2 on Walt’s list were very highly recommended. Long story short, the boat passed and we purchased the boat. Walt helped with the negotiations and every facet of the purchase. After all it’s a very big investment. BUT… that’s not the best part.

    So now I bought my boat and I don’t know how to run any of the systems or even how to get the boat back to Middle River, my home port. That’s no problem for Walt. He actually went down to Norfolk with my wife and I and taught us everything from how to run the generator, all the systems, and gave us tips from all his years of experience. Then he got on the boat with us and we drove the 180 nautical miles up the bay to bring the boat home. We had heavy seas and had to pull in to Solomon’s Island for the night and complete the trip on Sunday. If that wasn’t enough, he gave my wife and I captain's training for 4 hours so we could learn how to maneuver a boat with 2 engines as it’s quite different than a boat with a single out drive. And get this, he did this on his birthday weekend! How can you beat that for customer service?
    Finally, Walt didn’t ask for any additional money for these services. These are the things that set Walt apart from the rest of the pack.

    Not only have I found my boat broker, I also found a friend. If you buy a boat from Walt, I don’t think you will be disappointed. We have another friend that just purchased a 54 foot sail boat. When we told him what Walt did for us, he said” my broker didn’t do any of that for me.” See that’s the difference when you buy a boat from Walt.

    There are a lot of ways I could sum up my experience meeting you, but there is truly only one that does you justice.
